Hantavirus risk in Paraguay

Paraguay has documented hantavirus cases primarily among agricultural workers with contact with infected rodents in the Gran Chaco and eastern forested regions. The country shares extensive borders with ANDV-endemic Argentina and Brazil. Heightened surveillance was initiated following the 2026 MV Hondius outbreak.
