Hantavirus risk in Venezuela

Venezuela has reported hantavirus cases since the early 2000s, primarily in rural agricultural and forested communities. Several local hantavirus strains have been identified in Venezuelan rodent populations. Surveillance was elevated as part of the regional response to the 2026 ANDV outbreak.
